Outer Cape Auctions offers free of charge the use of our phone service to bid on lots in our auctions.  The information needed at time of phone line reservation is:

1.  your full name, mailing address and email.

2.  the first phone number to call on the day of auction and a back up number if there is one.

3.  the lot(s) you wish for us to call you on (include artist's last name if possible).

On the day of the auction, a phone representative will contact you to remind you that there is a phone line reserved for you for the lot(s) you requested.  You will get a call a few minutes before your lot(s) come up for bidding.  You can watch the live audio/video feed of the auction through our internet bid host's website (see our website for link to the internet host's site) so you can always keep track of when to expect a call.

We use cell phones and unfortunately, the location of our current auction house host (Seashore Point, 100 Alden Street, Provincetown, Ma.) gets fair to poor service, depending on the day, the weather and other factors. 
With that knowledge, it is important that when you first talk to your phone representative on the day of the auction, that you give them any maximum bid amount(s) in the event that we cannot reach you at the time the lot is offered or if the connection was lost.  In that case, you will still be represented while the phone representative tries to get you back on the phone.

Special Note:  I am currently investigating through Comcast the possibility of having a phone bank (multiple landline phones) for the days of an auction but until that becomes a reality, I have to utilize the next best thing.  Also there is a new cell tower being built relatively close to Seashore Point so in the near future, cell service should be superb.

ABOUT ABSENTEE BIDS

In the event that you are not able to make it to our auctions, then you may bid by absentee bid.  You may record your bid(s) by either calling Outer Cape Auctions at 508.487.7281 or email:  [email protected].  Outer Cape Auctions executes your bids competitively.  This means that we do not start out with your highest bid.  The Auctioneer will open the bidding to the floor with the acknowledgment of an absentee bid placed on the lot.  The Auctioneer, at his discretion, will open the bidding on the lot at about half the estimated selling price and lower until he has additional bidders against the absentee bidder.  He will bid on your behalf. 

It is the sole responsibility as to the value, condition, and authenticity of each lot you wish Outer Cape Art Auctions to bid on for you.  We make no warranty as to the value, condition and authenticity of each lot.  To find out more information on lots you wish to place absentee bids on, please call or email Outer Cape Art Auctions at least 3 days prior to the auction date to receive more information on the lots of interest to you.

It is very important to understand that we record the date and time when a bid has been received.  They are filed in order of first bid in is the first, second is second and so on.  You must be aware of this as all bids received by Outer Cape Auctions are strictly confidential and we cannot release amounts to other prospective bidders and/or sellers.  In the event that there are 2 bids of the same amount and that amount is the selling price, and there are no other bids, then the first bid in will be awarded the lot.

BIDDING INCREMENTS

Following are the increment amounts you can expect  although it is left to the Auctioneer's discretion on bump amounts.

0 - 500                $        25.00     
501 - 1000         $        50.00
1001 - 5000       $      100.00
5001 - 10,000    $      250.00
10,001 and up    $  1,000.00

These bidding increments are solely up to the auctioneer and can change depending on several things: value of the lot, amount of people on opening bid, multiple absentee/internet/phone bidders.

POST AUCTION

RESULTS:  Within 24 hours after an auction, the results will be posted on Outer Cape Auction's website.  All posted prices will include the 17% buyer premium.  Please check the results to see if you were successful on your absentee bids (and phone bid in the event of lost connection if a back up absentee bid had been placed before the auction). 

OCA Contact with Buyers: It can take up to three full days to contact all successful bidders that were not present at the auction.  The staff of 15+ that runs the actual auctions becomes a staff of one the day after (me) and so it takes time to contact all the successful bidders for payment and shipment information.

INFORMATION NEEDED AT TIME OF CONTACT:  If you were successful on your bid(s) please be prepared to offer the following information when we contact you: 

1. your shipping address,
2. best phone number
3. mode of shipment or pick up
4. your preferred shipper (ex:  UPS, FedEx, US Priority)
5. speed in which you wish to receive your purchase(s).
6. form of payment:  we accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, paypal, checks, cashier's checks and money orders, wire transfers and cash. If paying by credit card, I will need to know the credit card number, expiration date, the street address the card is registered to along with the zip code (for security purposes).

If the item is too big for OCA Auctions to package (anything larger than a flat rate priority mail box is larger than we like to deal with), then with your approval, your purchase(s) will be delivered to the Mailspot in Provincetown (508.487.6650) and they will package and ship your purchase(s).  I will still need the shipper, delivery time prior to delivering to the Mailspot on your behalf.

If the item is being shipped out of state, there is no state sales tax.  We do not package items purchased in auctions.  We prefer to outsource this to the Mailspot in Provincetown.  508.487.6650.  You may also make arrangements with your own shipper or other such arrangements.
