*AUCTIONEER'S NOTE: Auction houses are always looking for that seldom seen, seldom offered, fresh to market 'museum piece' that collectors and dealers constantly seek out. Such is the case with this work of art. This painting rivals the works of art currently hanging on the walls of Town Hall. It is a stunning rarely seen view of Provincetown, looking east from Telegraph Hill. The lower right area was at one time a farm. It is now residential homes. Telegraph Hill is the highest spot above sea level and the original site of the telegraph switch station. It now boast some of the nicest homes in town. The framing is of the highest quality and there is a beautifully gilded and painted artist's name tag on the lower front. This is without doubt, one of those museum pieces.

*AUCTIONEER'S NOTE: Nancy Maybin Ferguson painted a painting from this exact spot and that painting is in a Provincetown art collection. On comparing the 2 works, there are similarities and differences that prevent me from attributing this painting to Nancy. Half of me thinks it is and half of me thinks it is not.
The age of the board the painting is on seems correct. I have never seen another painting painted from this spot (Monument Hill).
It is up to you to ascertain who the artist is. As they say in auctions, buyer beware!

*AUCTIONEER'S NOTE: It has come to the attention of OCA Auctions that this painting signed George Oberteuffer on the back most likely was not done by George but most likely from a student of his in Provincetown. The grandson of George Oberteuffer contacted me regarding this painting. In our conversation, he did confirm that George was definitely in Provincetown during the summer of 1932 and in fact created quite a few works that summer (one of the paintings is in the permanent collection of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum). He also had many students (he pretty much taught every where he traveled as he was not a financially well off individual) and most likely this painting was created by one of those students in Provincetown in the summer of 1932.
The painting will remain in the auction and the listing will remain the same.
Thanks, Terry Catalano, Auctioneer, Ma. $2539

* AUCTIONEER'S NOTE: To all interested parties on this 3 piece bronze wall hanging sculpture. Lot 32, 33 and 34 comprise the top image seen in the box next to this text box. The sculpture is 3 separate wall hangings with the middle section comprised of 3 separate pieces. This wall sculpture will be auctioned off as 3 separate lots since the three separate elements of this composition can be considered a 'stand alone' wall sculpture. The party interested in keeping all three pieces together will have to bid successfully for lot 32, 33 and 34.
Also, this work of art really seems to belong in a public space or a corporation or hospital's wall. Obviously weight is going to be a big issue when it comes to shipping (assuming this will be shipped to some far off destination). I will offer to the successful bidder of all three of the lots comprising this wall sculpture, the opportunity for me to deliver the several pieces to you with a price to be determined upon submission of an address. For an example though, I would deliver these pieces to Boston for 200.00, New York for 300.00, etc.
